Craig Castleman Greene, MD, MBA believes that all patients deserve access to medical care that will improve their quality of life and ensure that they have the opportunity to enjoy their lives and families without restrictions. As a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Greene primarily works with patients who have conditions like arthritis or sports injuries that cause severe hip and knee pain that may require surgery, including arthroscopy or joint replacement.
Dr. Greene is passionate about public service, societal and healthcare sustainability. As a gubernatorial appointee to the Louisiana Emergency Response Network (‘LERN’), Dr. Greene served with the responsibility of supporting and sustaining a statewide system of care coordination for patients suddenly stricken by serious traumatic injury or time-sensitive illness.In addition to serving patients in the Baton Rouge area, Dr. Greene also serves through community involvement and providing care abroad. With his Dr. Greene Foundation, he and other surgeons around the world to offer humanitarian aid to patients who do not have access to quality medical care, especially in disaster situations. The Greene Team began when he and his team traveled to Haiti in 2010 following the earthquake to offer orthopaedic services to patients needing care. Dr. Greene attempts to take a medical team on a medical mission each year, often involving family members.
Dr. Greene completed his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University in 1996, and he was a member the football team as a strong safety from 1992-1994. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans in 2000. He then completed his residency at Texas A&M Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX in 2005, followed by a fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology and complex fracture care at Harborview Trauma Center, University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 2006. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Greene earned his MBA from Yale University, where he graduated with honors. He also serves as a Commander in the United States Navy Reserves. In 2017, Dr. Greene won his first ever public service election in the primary to serve as Public Service Commissioner for Louisiana District 2.
Dr. Greene believes that family time and community involvement are important. He grew up in Maringouin, LA and now lives in Baton Rouge, LA with his wife of 23 years, Kristen, and their five children. He and his family attend Healing Place Church.
Dr. Greene extends that sense of family and community involvement into his work as an orthopaedic surgeon. He strives to make his patients feel as comfortable as possible throughout the entire treatment process, and works to restore mobility for his patients so that pain and disability will not hold them back from their favorite activities.
